Leigh:

I don't know about the M47 or its length. I'm offering my services here in the following: I have a 1980 242GT that has the M46 transmission out. Now that it's out, I can take all it's dimensions. So you have to find the M47's dimensions. I can check dimensions for overal length, shifter positions, etc., etc.

Anyways, reply if you're interested.
