Eratic idleing on a 1980 244

Does it continue with the lumpy idle and fuel-deprived symptoms when it's fully warmed up? I don't think timing would suddenly go bad, at least at the distributor end. Maybe your timing belt skipped a cog?

Consider the following:

vacuum leaks
cold start injector (sometimes called the 5th injector) and its sensor
control pressure regulator
