looking for information on an electrical problem 700 1987

I spent several days myself looking for a source to a blown fuse. There is a device called a short detector which if I had one would probably taken me less than 30 minutes. They are not that expensive, below 40.00 probably. Someone out there maybe can recommend one. Good luck.
