B230F/FT cylinder head question

This is really a machinist question...one familiar with the Volvo B230F/FT head.

Disregarding the changes in compression ratio and valve timing, what is the maximum amount that can be milled from the combustion side of a 100530 cylinder head?

I have heard of shaving a full mm (.040") from a 100531 but that sounds like a lot. Can I safely remove .5-.75mm (.020-.030") without making the casting too thin?
