stripped trans. drain plug

Are you sure it's stripped? Could it be that they just forgot to install the copper washer? Or maybe the copper washer was crimped from the previous installation and no longer seals very well?

If the threads really are stripped, there's some info in the FAQ about a couple different methods to go about solving this, but it seems to me like that's a bunch of screwing around. If it were me, I'd just get another pan from a junkyard and be done with it.
