The other option is to go at the ignition lock cylinder itself. I did this once on a mission to like key several 140 series cars.If you remove the shrouds ( and you must have done this already to get the switch out) on the lower side of the white metal casting that contains the lock cylinder you will see a ball bearing type retainer device. This has been inserted at the factory and peened in place. What you must do to remove this is to drill a small hole at a slight angle so you can get a very small diameter prying bar underneath to push the ball bearing retainer out. It is not that difficult only tedious. If you are successful you will have the lock cylinder in your hand at this point if not proceed to remove the entire steering column. The lock cylinder could be just dry or completely worn out. In my situation I gave my local locksmith several ignition cylinders and a box full of door locks with the instructions to key them all alike. Now you can grab any set of keys and away you go. You most probably would end up at a locksmith as well should you chose this route. One more thing when you insert the cylinder again peen as best you can and use some expoxy to cover the reair job . This has worked well for years for me.
