center bearing support rubber question

I am having a bit of a problem with my '83 242 and I think it may be the driveshaft centre bearing support. When i start out in first gear i feel a vibration coming from the centre of the driveshaft which smooths out after about 5MPH. I bought an aftermarket rubber supporta short while ago when i replaced the centre bearing and to me it seemed to be pretty soft and flimsy certainly not much stiffer than the old oil soaked one. I recall a posting about someone having a hard time getting the centre bearing into the rubber housing on an aftermarket model as well. My question is and I am aware that this is difficult to desribe in words but how stiff are these rubber mounts supposed to be. The other possibility I guess is that the driveshaft is out of balance so I will look at this also. Archives mention that the factory marked the two halves with arrows? The driveshaftis like new since the car enjoyed a snow free life in Arizona and B.C until this winter so should the marks be visible?
