I recently bought an '88 760-T sedan that is in great shape mechanically, but has some major issues appearance-wise, and one of the biggest is that the headliner has gotten horribly stained and deteriorated and looks really nasty. I have no problem repairing the headliner; I've done it myself in the past on other cars, or else I'd be happy to invest in having a pro do it. The problem is, though, that the reason the headliner got so bad in the first place is that the factory-installed power sunroof has a history of leaking, and I don't want to put the time and money into a new liner if it's just going to get messed up again anyway. I followed the FAQ's advice and blew out the four tubes that drain water away from the channels at the sides of the sunroof opening, and this has helped a lot. Now it does fine in the rain and really only leaks under high pressure, (the drying cycle at an automatic car wash seems to be about the worst). So, maybe the lesson is that I should be taking the time to always wash my car by hand, but I'm a busy person and those automatic car washes are awfully appealing. Obviously, I could just avoid car washes forever, but I'd much rather fix the leak and then fix the headliner. Other than making sure the corner drains are clear, what other advice do you guys have about addressing stubborn sunroof leak issues? Thanks.
