What should I replace next, ready to give up... 700 1989

Sounds like you problen is with the idle control. Do what Chris said, verify that your throttle switch(TS) is telling the ECU that the engine is in idle mode. Use a ohm meter on the lower two tabs of the TS connector, you must remove the wire harness connector to the TS, then if you look in the TS connector you should see three tabs. I'm pretty sure that you should have continuity between the two lower tabs with the throttle closed and no continuity when the throttle is open.
If the TS is working properly then try cleaning the inside of the IAC motor (I use WD40), see if that fixes the problem and let us know.
