Thanks guys and gals,

I replaced my 88 740GLE's starter today with one I got from a local strip yard off a 92 740. After great frustration in getting those two retaining bolts off, replacing the other starter was a lot easier. Connected wires, reconnected negative cable to battery and she fired right up with engine sounding like a kitten.

To all the guys who offered their advice - your aces in my book. Thanks.
