I'm having a hard start problem on a 88 745 na B230. When the engine is cold ("overnight cold") it starts right up. When the engine is very warm it also starts right up. BUT if it is "semiwarm" as in having sat for 20 minutes or more after running up to normal temp or if the ambient temperature is warm--even after not being started for a day or so, it takes more cranking than I like to get it fired up. The proceedure I have been using during this mode is as follows: Crank 7-8 times(and now, knowing it will not start) release the key, listen to the pumps run until they stop and then crank 3-5 revs to start. The hall sensor is good, plugs are in good shape, rotor and cap are almost new, fuel injector relay is new (does the same thing with the old relay)radio suppression relay has been resoldered, fuses have all been cleaned.My suspicion is fuel pressure, but pressures have not been tested as I don't have the gauge setup for this. If it was the fuel pump check valve, wouldn't the hard start occur first thing after sitting all night? How about the fpr? temp sensor? Also, on occasion after it does start, it stumbles or runs rough (starving for fuel?) for 2-4 seconds or until I give it gas.....although this is not the usual scenario. Please help.
