Alternator Test results

Well, for a start you might try it and see if it still works OK with
the lamp disconnected. Many alternators use the lamp current to
provide excitation to the field windings, but if this will work with
the lamp disconnected that would be a start. To keep tabs on things,
install a system voltmeter.

A lying lamp is almost as bad as a lying computer.....
