I have a '89 740 GLE 16-valve wagon that's in great shape mechanically. I bought it about 4 weeks ago (my second Volvo from the same dealer here locally). The only problem that I've noticed is an intermittent ABS indicator, and I do mean intermittent. It pops on about once every week or so for the duration of a trip, and then I don't see it again for a while. The guys at the dealership diagnosed it as a faulty ABS relay and replaced the componenent for minimal cost (I get a 30 day warranty on used cars from these guys). Anyway, the dang light popped on again during a short trip this past Sunday, so I'm assuming that it wasn't the relay at fault. The dealership couldn't find anything wrong with the ABS at all, so I'm thinking I either have a phanton electrical issue or maybe some condensation building up on the ABS sensors, since the light tends to pop on in rainy or otherwise humid conditions. I'm open to suggestion if that explanation sounds looney. I'm an amateur mechanic at best, and I'm fairly new to Volvos, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
T.E.O.
