AC installation for 145 140-160 1971

Joe and All-

I am in the process of doing the very same thing on a 71 142. Being lucky, I found all the inside stuff a local junk yard in a car ready for the crusher. So far I have a new Sandon 508 compressor, and a new condensor and expansion valve made for 134A. At this point I only need to puchase new barrier hoses and a drier. I made an adaptor bracket to go from the York to the Sandon. These adaptors are avaible at parts houses for about $60 but I have a welder and torch so I made my own.

At the present I plan on using R12 or some alternate refrigerent. Although my system should work with 134A, the cooling should be better with R12 or an equal.

I will try to post my results, or you could email me with questions.

Mark Richardson
