What is for the Kickdown Cable? 200 1983

It adjusts the pressure in the valvebody that controls shifting. When a certain pressure is reached the valves move and a shift happens. By apply reverse pressure through the cable, it delays the shift till a higher pressure is reached in the system.

Shifting pressure is usually supplied by the governor.

If the cable is not adjusted, it totally screws up the programmed shifting profile engineered into the valvebody.

That is it in a nutshell.
