The block should be reddish-orange, as should the oil pan.
Look at the right side of the head, toward the rear of the engine. It should have a stamp that says "89", or whatever the year of your car is. If you have a 90, for example, you might actually have an original 89 engine because of production schedules.
If the head is an orange color also, it's been altered somehow, either cosmetically , or it was rebuilt and painted at that time.
