Volvo Tape Deck

I have a '89 760 with the original Volvo radio and cassette deck.

The tape deck is acting up. Sometimes it won't play at all. Sometimes is flips directions every couple of seconds. It will flip directions in play or ff or ffrev.

I have removed the deck and cleaned the capstans and pinch rollers to no avail.

There is a Volvo manual that claims to cover the radio but I don't know if it covers the tape deck.

Can anybody help me out with this problem?
