Oil level full? Low oil level will result in temporary engine noise and, if low too long, permanent engine noise.

Sounds (ticking) like something in the valvetrain or injectors. If you place a broomstick end on the engine block and then your ear to the side of the broomstick it will magnify the sound. Placing the stick on different locations of the engine may help to pinpoint the sound's origin. Careful around pullys and belts...
