Don't hit until you type your stuff!
It may be that the cable was hooked around something and popped
off to its normal position and is OK now.
The term "tv dent" doesn't mean anything to me.
It might be Swedish. I would imagine that it is the kickdown
cable (as I mentioned before) that causes the tranny to downshift
when you tromp the gas pedal really hard. Since I've never had
a Volvo with auto tranny, I'm unfamiliar with the specific setup.
General principle - if you want a job done right, ESPECIALLY on an uncommon
car (which yours definitely is!) learn how to do it yourself.
Typically there is nobody who knows more about your car than you, even
if you don't know all you need to.
The carb problem you cited is not dealt with in the green 1972 Volvo 164
manual I have but it does refer to a special tool and workshop bulletin
P-23-44. If you ever get your hands on one of these I sure would like
to have a copy of it.
The maintenance on the 175 CD2 Z-S carbs is very complex and tedious,
occupying 15 full-size, fairly fine print pages in the manual. They
have temp compensators, bypass valves and rubber diaphragms, all of which
are subject to serious problems. For that reason, I changed to SUs, which
reduced my carb maintenance about 90%.
I strongly suggest that you get yourself a green Volvo manual for your
car. Once in a while they show up on ebay (search for Volvo Manual).
