Hi,
I have a 1993 940 Volvo, with the 240 style Distributor system. Miles around 112000.
Everytime I start the car in the morning when it's completely cold, the engine will kind of shake left to right, funny idle. The entire car kind of rock side to side. After about a minute or so, it smooths out and is fine.
Normal driving seems fine until you stop and put the car in park. The engine will idle rough some times, but will start reving up and down. A couple of times it seemed that the engine was about to die because the dash lights came on then back off. I believe this idle problem will usually go away after minute or so. But it always seems to really be noticable when you put the car in park. One time when starting up the car when it was warm, I immediately put it in reverse, and started to accelerate and the engine died.
Other than that the car runs good.
I had a Volvo shop look it over and they didn't find anything. I think they tested the O2 Sensor but seemed okay.
One suggestion from someone was to have the Fuel Injectors cleaned. What do you think?
Thank you.
Michael
