just to throw a wrench in your plans, I don't think the hood on the 80 will fit the 86+ front end. I don't know where there is a flat hood for the 86+ front end available, except maybe in Europe.

How come you like the 86+ front end so much? Have you seen the Euro lights that will fit the 81-85 US cars? They look like the big rectangular 86+ lights.

I would start with the 84 242 Turbo. Assuming it is in similar condition to the other cars you mention.
