Thanks guys. You guys (and particularly the Shadow) sounded like these suggestions/repairs for that 92-9 series was made for my 97. I took my car to Volvo on Friday before I saw this web site. I'm going to pickup my car tonight though, before the Dealer 1)change out the ignition switch (@$175), and if that doesn't do it, 2) they want to replace the tranny. But get this! After talking to the Dealer's serviceman today by phone about what I had read on this web site, and now that I know that it probably is a PNP problem (which can be temporarily fixed through the rapid movement of the gear shift, thanks to brickboard) he agreed. Now my confidence in this Dealership is really shrinking fast! He said that he was only making his suggestion off of the fact that diagnostic code was "AT 232 - speed sensor absent". He did not offer a connection between the code and the ignition switch so I lift "well-enough alone". Does anyone out there have any further suggestions based on the Dealer's code?
