A/C Conversion

I think I'll put together my own A/C FAQ so that all the bases are covered. It's one vehicle system that I really enjoy working on.

You have to empty all the mineral oil out of the compressor. That means removing the compressor and dumping it all out. Flushing the system (at least blowing it out with compressed air) is a very good idea. But getting as much mineral oil out as possible, is mandatory.

Beware anyone who tells you "I never emptied my system and it works just fine." Their system is not going to work fine forever, and when it dies, it will die a horrible, black death.

You don't have to adjust the pressure switch, but in my experience, you can improve the cooling of the system by adjusting it down a little bit, so that it cycles the compressor off at around 20lbs. The primary goal is to prevent icing... the closest you can get to that point without icing the low side is a very good thing.
