stalling when cold a newly arrived problem 700 1989

White smoke is usually a sign of burning transmission fluid. Are you sure its not blueish-gray or blueish-white? The blue color tells you its oil, black means its burning rich.

If you can't really tell what color the smoke it, go and take a napkin and wipe the inside of your exhust pipe. See what comes out on the napkin. It should be clean.
