Hello joe! A trip like that should not be a big problem, is the oil changed resently? if not do that! also check airfilter,sparkplugs,battery level,fan belt(take a spare with you),inside of distributor cap(for corrosion).
Also take some useful tools with you(some screwdrivers,pliers a small adjustable wrench(is the right expression monkeywrench?)).
A bit of medium sandpaper is also a good idea, very useful incase of bad connection some were in the electr.system.
