How do I post a picture here?

I frequently include images with my posts. Images are helpful conveying more than can be said, even with a thousand words.

First, you must have your digital image on a server that anyone can access using a browser.

Finally, you include in your post the HTML "tags," or imbedded codes, that tell the viewer's browser to display that image found at that address.

For example, this image:

...is from this code:

[center]
[img src="http://personal.tmlp.com/foster/volvo/dilbert.jpg" border="1"]
[/center]

...except that I used the "arrowhead" right 'n left brackets instead of the square brackets that you see. (If I had tried to show you the arrowhead brackets, your browser you attempt to interpret them as HTML tags and they would be invisible.)

The img src="http://......." statement is the server address where I store images, and the image you see is "dilbert.jpg." (Acknowledgements to Scott Adams for his exceptional interpretation and rendering of management mentality.)

The border="1" command puts a one-pixel wide black border around the image. You can substitute a larger number for a fatter border.

The "center" and "/center" tags position everything between them to the center of your screen. If you did not include the "/center" tag, all following text would also be centered rather than left-justified.

Clear?
