Modification questions 700 1987

Questions regarding modifications on a 1987 740 GLE sedan. I was hoping to lower the car. What do I need to purchase to accomplish this and how do I install these components? Second, it seems the car is very weak. It has the B230F engine and this just started about 30k miles ago. Has anyone experienced this? How do I overcome this?
