rough idle, then quit and will not start 700 1987

Just a few comments/thoughts:

You might want to seriously consider taking the vehicle to another shop for further diagnosis and repair. Couldn't test the air mass meter, eh? All they had to do was to remove the wiring harness connector at the amm and start the car. Sheesh!!

Wiring harness? If it is original, then it is probably "due," but I don't believe that it would cause your particular symptoms.

A bad IAC motor would result in an unstable, oscillating idle. It would not result in a no-start situation.

Wastgate linkage? Easy enough to check, but I would rule it out. Now. Call it 'intuition.'

My money is on the temp sensor and/or fuel pressure regulator.
