Best tire for teh money is the Dunlop SP Sport A2. It's an all weather tire that has RIDICULOUSLY excellent handling in wet weather, an especially great feature for a volvo tire. I bought a set on the rec of my tire guy without doing any review (didn't know mine were shot until it was time to change them). Post-purchase I went to Tire Rack's site and looked at the review; these dunlop's are some of teh highest rated tires available, and they sell for half the price of the Mich's.
You can get them from Tire Rack for $59 a piece. Look at the customer reviews to see what I'm talking about in the performance. Where I sometimes feel a tire might be "on the edge" the Dunlop holds likea rock... never a feeling it's even close to loosing it on me, even on mountain roads in near hurricane conditions at about 60mph (2.5 weeks ago).
good luck,
rt
p.s. you CAN use it in snow (it's an all weather tire), but I would still recommend picking up a pair of nice snow tires like some Nokian's. Volvo's need all the help they can get.
