Best spot to hook up a voltmeter? 200 1992

I ran the + to the fuse panel and just found an open connector on a fuse that's powered at the II position of the ignition (like the power windows, which my doesn't have). I think the length I usually end up with is around 60", but just run the wire through the hole where the gauge goes, under the dash, and over to the fuse panel before you make the cut. The ground wire will be much shorter if you run it to a screw behind the center console. I usually piggy-back short wires off the 12V and ground wires for the light bulb because I'm too lazy to splice into the instrument wiring.
