This is the automotive equivalent of the "placebo effect." In addition, once you've spent (wasted) the money, you'll be too embarrassed to admit that it's a "bogus piece of marketing crappola."
Ask yourself -- If this "bogus piece of marketing crappola" POS gizmo actually did what it claimed, don't you think every car manufacturer would be all over the idea? Car manufacturers are under SERIOUS pressure to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. If they found a legitimate, reliable method to improve mpg by 1%, they'd climb the walls to use it and boast about the performance, as well as satisfy the EPA.
