Sounds like the overdrive relay. In the relay tray behind the ashtray it is in the second row on the right hand side. Remove the ashtray and the surround on the lighter and remove the two exposed screws. The storage bin will then come out and you can get to the relay. Remove the relay and open it up and resolder the circuit board (or spend the money for a new one). That should do it.
