Check the engine wiring harness. It goes from the passenger side firewall behind the engine, under the intake manifold, behind the alternator to the drivers side front fender area. There is a single wire which goes under the crankshaft pulley to the oil pressure sender. Check for crumbling insulation on any exposed wores from the harness. Bad insulation is hidden inside the plastic sheaths.
It's a good car with loits of potential. Don't give up.
