HID requires a conversion which includes a high voltage ballast transformer for each side...figure $400-600US. Those "HID / Xenon / Plasma" bulbs you see for $10-20 are nothing more than a marketing scheme and the bulbs are usually very low quality Chinese or Korean junk. There's no such thing as a "pop-in" HID system. The low quality is your answer. Stick with name brand parts like Osram-Sylvania, GE, PIAA, Wagner that are DOT approved and they'll work for years.
