This guy said, that Volvo relays are somehow different inside
by means of materials - over the years.
He got no reply.
Bad material gives higher resistance and makes the relay hot.
Could be - newer relays are better - maybe.

There was also long time ago an interesting thread about
soldering lead (look in the archives).
Short speaking: In resoldering the relays - get the electronic(!)
solder lead with 3 or 5 % silver. It gives less resistance
and protects against corrosion.
PS relays are naturally somehow hot - the high current going trough
is the reason why to use relays.
there is no cold high amp current except in superconductors.
