tacho wire problem 900 1996

Hold on a minute. I am sure you know the difference between the tachometer and the speedometer.

speedometer is for road speed MPH or KPH and the odometer for miles driven is part of this device.

tachometer is for engine rpm.

These are totally different instuments. Which one stopped working?

The coil is under the hood and develops the high voltage for the spark plugs. The tachometer signal is tapped off at the the coil primary.
