shouldn't be sticking at all. once you undo the two screws that hold the switch to the key/lock mehcanism it basically just falls right off (forward, towards the firewall).

Did you undo the two screws and take them off? They're a pain in the arse to access due to the support columns for the dash and steering column. Use a small screwdriver or ratchet screw to access at a right angle.
