Thanks for the reply Thad. "Harder" must be a relative term here (please no jokes ;-), as I'm running 165/15 VW bug-style tires on my ES, and one day last summer I actually heard the steering wheel hub crack due to the low-speed steering effort required. Local 1800 guru Bob Kelly promises that all I need is a little negative caster to improve things, but methinks that between a worn steering box and the Rube Goldberg steering linkage, that this is just always going to be truck-like.
As for your timing question, I'll have to check and qualify my answer as my engine is a bit warmed over ;-).
