Towing a Volvo with a Volvo

I do it all the time, although not over such long distances.

Do not use o/d in the towing vehicle (stick or auto). Yes, it makes things a bit noisier, but you'll be glad you did.

If the towing vehicle has an automatic, consider adding an auxiliary trans. cooler.

If the towed vehicle has an automatic, disconnect (good) or remove (even better) the driveshaft.

You'll be pushing, but not exceeding, the limits of the tow vehicle. If it's mostly levely highway, you'll be fine. If it's hilly or you're driving secondary roads, your car will tell you when you're pushing too hard. Just listen.
