I have seen a picture of a 240 with an 850 motor in it. Probably at (I'll find it).

I hjave read at least two magazine articles that state that a modern 5 is smoother than a 6 or an 8, and much smoother than a 4.

I think that the explanation had to do with crankshaft construction methods not available before Audi built their 5.
