'Check Engine' light on 200 1991

I have had a pesonal experience on my '91 964 with intermittent occuring codes, mostly from RPM sensor on Oxygen sensor. After clearing they might stay away for several months to a several years. Another has been Check Engine light that came on and stayed on even if there were no trouble codes stored. The car was however running great and removing battery power for about a minute has cleared the light ( twice during past 11 years ).
