I wouldn't complain about getting "only" 45k out of a set ...
There are higher wearing tires, but the typical tradeoff is lesser traction because the harder compound.(*)
Personally, I'd rather sacrafice some tire wear for better grip. If it saved me just once from ending up in someone else's bumper or another unpleasant place, it made all its worth already.
* - A pervious pair of General G4S's come to mind ... never seemed to wear, but when you can spin your wheels on a stock NA 245 automatic, you know you've got a problem.
