You're right - as the original writer confirmed in his own reply, the signal was routed to the radio plug in late cars. Unfortunately the earlier schematics doesn't seem to match at any point since wiring colours according to him also changed with this redesign. But you can never be to careful with electronics, that's why I warned about possible error code scenarios.
