Dumb question....knocking 700 1988

There's a design flaw in the number one cylinder (the wrist pin or something like that) that causes a ticking or rapping sound in pre-92 (I think). I had it on my 88 745T...and it ran happily if a bit noisily to 275K miles before I sold it.
