NO!! Ignore Haynes!

The tranny drain plug is toward the front of the bottom of the rectangular aluminum pan (about one foot wide by 15 inches long) under the tranny. DO NOT try to remove the dipstick fill tube nut, which is on the driver's side of the pan and has the dipstick tube running into it. All you need to do is place a pan under the drain plug, unbolt it, let it drain, then carefully re-insert it and tighten it snugly but not too tight so that you don't strip it out. when tightening, hold the wrench right near the head so you don't use too much torque. The drain plug has a small aluminum washer: turn this over when re-inserting so that it crushes slightly when you tighten the plug and seals the gap. That's it. If you want to flush all the fluid, proceed to the FAQ instructions.
