It could be that you've simply got a good tight engine, and it's had the head gasket replaced before. That would mean that the head was planed by a machine shop. They could have taken off enough to increase the compression.

IF you're not having any problems with pinging, I wouldn't worry about it. IF you are, I recommend a fuel system cleaner, and there's only one that's any good: Techron. It is supposed to help remove deposits all through the system including the valves.
