Fuel delivery problem 700 1987

Folks. Had a fuel leak at the bung of the tank. Fixed simply by tightening the collar. In doing so I had removed the upper most, medium sized hose for access to the collar. Reattached when finished. Ever since this fix, the car has started harder and harder. Today on the way to work, power felt uneven. When I inspected the bung assembly, I noticed the hose clamp on the medium sized hose was loosened. Could this be allowing the pre-pump to suck air, and make the main pump draw even harder? After I retightened the clamp, the car started hard, but after it ran for a half minute or so, the main pump really quieted down. Does the fuel tank hold a certain pressure, and I relieved it when I disconnected the hose?

Thanks for any input. Lastly, would someone please explain what hoses feed what? I haven't traced them out fully yet.
At approximately 12:00 on the bung is a medium sized hose.
At 4:00 are two smaller diameter hoses.
At 7:00 the largest hose I assume is the filler line.
The elctrical is at approximately 1:00.
Thanks again.
