I agree with removing the distributor. It's not as difficult as it sounds (just 2 10mm (or close, maybe 11 or 13 mm bolts) Take off the dist. cap, the 2 bolts and a gentle thump with a mallet and it will pop right off. And the plug would be much easier to remove and replace with decent light an a little room. And the replacing the 2 o-rings is a good idea while you're at it.
