Thanks. You've given me a lot to think about. As mentioned...I fudged the variables enought to get it running well...but not perfectly. I think my only real solutions are to fit it with a Weber or, as suggested above, to substitute an F head. My understanding. is that F heads had hardened valve seats, so that would probably be the first choice. I have one of those $100 IPD big bore gaskets (shame on me for paying that outrageous amount) so maybe I'll keep my eyes open for an F head (are there any external identifyling marks?)
