Correct size is 22 mm, as already stated below, but a 7/8 inch O2 sensor slotted socket fits the sensor located in exhaust manifold of '87 240. Cost about $12 at a discount auto parts store. I wouldn't have been able to do the job on this car without the slotted feature to allow access past the wires.
